The Medicine She Saved for Me

I would not be where I am today without her selfless sacrifices. When I was growing up, she often chose not to go to the doctor when she was sick, knowing that the little money we had could instead cover my school fees or a new pair of shoes. Even when the doctor prescribed medication to be taken twice a day, she would take only one dose, trying to save the rest for the days when her condition became worse.
Because she never had the chance to go to school and had no health education, she didn’t realize that taking only half the prescribed dose would slow her recovery. She genuinely believed she was doing the right thing—stretching the medicine, avoiding extra expenses, and saving every possible resource so I wouldn’t miss my classes.
At that age, I couldn’t understand her struggles—and she never complained. It was only when I grew older that I began to understand the depth of her sacrifices.
Mom, I miss you so much and I love you so much.
